Jones, Harper and Wells Advance in Hurdles

The three American women’s 100-meter hurdlers qualified easily for the semifinals in morning heats Monday at the London Olympics.
The fastest time was set by the world champion, Sally Pearson of Australia, but Lolo Jones was close behind in a seasonal best 12.68 seconds, and Kellie Wells won her heat as well in 12.69. Dawn Harper, the defending gold medalist, also qualified.
One medal candidate, Brigitte Foster-Hylton of Jamaica, clipped a hurdle and fell off stride. She finished in 13.98 and was eliminated.
