U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Defeats Japan for Gold Medal

LONDON – The Americans avenged their loss to Japan in the Women’s World Cup last summer with a 2-1 victory and a gold medal at the Olympics in London on Thursday. It was the third consecutive gold for the United States.
No women’s team has won the World Cup and Olympic gold medal back to back.
